Pathways to Writing Task Cards Grades K-5
100 Tasks for Independent Writing
The 100 writing tasks in each box of laminated task cards form a supportive resource for both independent and small group writing. Engaging prompts at a range of ability levels encourage students to create original work in a variety of fiction and nonfiction text types (12 per grade), such as realistic fiction, fantasy, mystery, biography, report, and persuasive text. Prompts and writing ideas may draw on personal experience and prior knowledge or may expand studentsí horizons by requiring simple research, interviews, or fact-gathering. Most activities can be revisited by students more than once during the school year, as they allow for a variety of interpretations.
