Professional Learning

Mondo Professional Learning offers differentiated and contextually relevant professional training for New York City Schools and individual schools, districts, and regions across the United States. The Mondo Professional Learning Framework is based on the core belief that all students can achieve success, given sufficient time and support. The framework incorporates nine essential elements that have been shown by multiple third-party evaluative studies to dramatically improve student literacy outcomes.
Mondo provides knowledgeable, confident facilitators who are experienced in ongoing professional learning for district personnel, school administrators, coaches, and teachers. Mondo facilitators take pride in the following:
- Engaging professional learning
- Inspiring new thinking
- Encouraging reflective practices
- Empowering teachers to make critical classroom decisions
- Challenging the status quo

Mondo Professional Learning includes both on-site and off-site sessions in leadership training, coaching and mentoring, data-driven instruction, instructional strategies, and classroom management. A menu of delivery options can be customized to meet client needs.
Leadership for Literacy Academies: A year-long professional learning series for principals, literacy coaches, and lead teachers. The series of workshops helps districts and schools develop a systemic approach to analysis and interpretation of assessment data, meeting standards, implementing best instructional practices for literacy, and effective leadership for literacy.
Leadership Training: Full-day series of workshops on issues relating to implementation of academic intervention services for principals and coaches across a cluster of schools. This program may also be conducted in keeping with the “train-the-trainer” model. Within that model, working with literacy coaches and staff developers, Mondo Professional Learning providers offer training on specific instructional strategies and support for the successful transference of information from the attendees to school instruction staff.
Seminars/Workshops: Usually consisting of 1–3 full days of interactive, cooperative training geared toward deepening participants’ understandings of best practices in literacy intervention instruction. Full or half-day workshops can also be delivered, targeting more specific aspects of effective academic intervention.
Institutes: Centering around structured, focused delivery including initial training, supported implementation of targeted instructional strategies, ongoing training and coaching, assessment and analysis of student achievement, and self-evaluation of participant growth. Institutes can be delivered in half- or whole-day formats on an ongoing basis, with the number of days dependent upon the topic and participant needs.
On-Site Training and Coaching: Working with school administrators and leadership teams to design and implement ongoing training and coaching. Areas of focus can range from a school-wide approach to academic intervention to grade-level targeted training. On-site training and coaching allows for more in-depth application of the professional development focus.
